Scheduling an Appointment

First off, like the original application, you need to schedule an appointment at either the post office or Banco de Costa Rica (BCR Bank).

Requirements for Renewal

Most requirements for renewing your DIMEX Card remain consistent with the initial request. Here’s a breakdown of the necessary documents and steps:

1. Appointment Confirmation: Ensure you have this on hand.

2. Government Fee Payment:
– $123 for adults
– $98 for children

3. Your Current DIMEX Card: This is critical for the renewal process.

4. Valid Passport: It’s rarely requested, but bringing it as a precaution is advised.

The new DIMEX Card will generally be ready within a month. The immigration department also issues a digital version, which functions the exact same way as the physical card; however, you must still collect the physical card. Receiving the digital card does not mean the physical one is ready. Normally, the physical one takes a little bit longer to be ready, about a month more or less.

Important Notes

The post office does not deliver the DIMEX Card to homes or any other addresses. You are required to show up at the post office and pick the card there. We will help you track it and inform you once it’s ready for pickup.
