The analysis and approval stage of the residency applications has gone from 6 or 8 months to 14 or 18 months, and in some cases, even longer. Over several years, the immigration department has faced severe shortage of personnel directly impacting the efficiency and prominence in handling immigration procedures.

Despite the tireless efforts and dedication of the directorate staff, the lack of human resources has led to a significant backlog of cases, affecting those seeking to regularize their legal status in the country.
